How to Correctly Document as an Insurance-Based Dietitian

Was LIVE on July 18, 2024 at 6:00 pm EST

Are you an insurance-based RD who often finds yourself feeling overwhelmed by the complex requirements of your documentation?

Are you often unsure about the specific details that should be included in your documentation?

Are you freaked out that you might be missing something in your documentation?

Are you afraid you might not pass a medical insurance audit & have to give back your reimbursement?

Not nervous at all, but just want to document with confidence

If you answered YES to any of the above questions, then this Master Class is for you! As a dietitian who has been billing insurance for over two decades, I have experienced my fair share of documentation snafus. And as a typical type-A dietitian, most of us just want to do things right. However, with that being said, we don’t know what we don’t know in this space that can hurt us as insurance-based dietitians. In this 60-minute Master Class, we will review exactly what must be in your documentation as a dietitian accepting insurance.

By the end of this Master Class, all participants will be able to do the following:

  1. Identify the critical aspects that must be in every chart note.
  2. State the common errors dietitians make in their charting.
  3. Describe the best practices for documentation for insurance-based dietitians.
  4. Document with confidence.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is this Master Class different from your Master Class called How to Ace your Insurance Audit?

Great Question. So my Master Class on Insurance Audits is a a deep dive of what an medical request (a.k.a. insurance audit) actually looks like. I provide three samples of REAL medical audits that my practice actually went through. We review what the insurance companies are looking for, what to include with the audit, what to not include, time frame & what to expect after the insurance audit. While documentation is what they are really after, there is a super high focus on the ACTUAL audit and process.

This class is actually the opposite. It is a deep dive into the documentation process. YES. We do acknowledge insurance audits throughout the class; but the main focus is how to document properly so in the event of an audit you ace it with flying colors.

This documentation class is pretty much for ALL dietitians in a private practice setting. We all need to know how to chart correctly. And that is exactly what this master class delivers.
